Brooklyn Denim Co. Says Goodbye
Frank from Brooklyn Denim Co.
BROOKLYN DENIM CO. Appreciation post
By Eric Steffen
If you’ve spent any time in Williamsburg over the last decade-plus, you know Brooklyn Denim Co. It’s been a denim cornerstone on Wythe since March 2010, built around the simple idea that great jeans are worth the hunt, and worth keeping alive through repairs, tailoring, and real product knowledge.
And that matters. Places like BDC don’t just sell clothes, they hold down a lane in Brooklyn culture: craft, personal style, neighborhood regulars, and the kind of independent retail that makes this borough feel like Brooklyn -- not just another strip of luxury condos.
Frank will be closing the store this Sunday,
and I just want to say thank you
publicly and wholeheartedly.
He’s been a wonderful partner over the last 4–5 years as I’ve been developing my own brand. Honestly, he’s the reason I got into ready-to-wear in the first place. He saw my jeans, liked what I was doing, and encouraged me to move away from custom and provide him with ready-to-wear pieces — and I did.
He also pushed me to make a more relaxed cut… and that’s how the Wythe style was born — named after the street BDC has called home for the last 14 years.
BDC has supported so many brands, so many customers, and so many denim journeys — and Frank did it with taste, honesty, and real belief in the work. Brooklyn won’t be the same without that door open on Wythe.
Much love and respect, Frank. Thank you for everything. 🖤
